Analog Devices AD9081-FMCA-EBZ

The AD9081 MxFE® Quad ADCs are highly integrated mixed-signal front-end devices with four 16-bit RF digital-to-analog converter (DAC) cores with a 12GSPS maximum sample rate as well as four 12-bit RF analog-to-digital converter (ADC) cores with a  4GSPS rate.

With the  AD9081, embedded digital-signal-processing (DSP) functions are on-chip so that the user can configure the programmable filters and digital up- and down-conversion blocks to meet specific radio-signal bandwidth requirements.

This device has flexible interpolation and decimation configurations that enable direct-to-RF multiband radio applications. A bypassable interpolator and decimator allow the user to achieve ultrawideband capability with low-latency digital loopback and fast frequency hopping modes for phased array radar systems and electronic warfare jammer applications.

Finally, the AD9081 includes power amplifier downstream protection circuitry, an on-chip temperature sensor, programmable GPIO pins, an ADC clock driver, a TDD power savings option and comes in a small 15 mm × 15 mm BGA package with 0.8 mm pitch.

Product Details of Analog Devices AD9081-FMCA-EBZ

  • The AD9081-FMCA-EBZ evaluation board includes all of the support circuitry required to operate the AD9081 in various modes and configurations.
  • The application software used to interface with the device is also described.
  • The AD9081-FMCA-EBZ evaluation board connects to the Analog Devices, Inc., ADS9-V2EBZ for evaluation with the ACE software.
  • The boards can also interface to commercially available field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development boards from Xilinx® or Intel®. Information on how to use these platforms to evaluate the AD9081 or AD9082 is available in the Using the AD-FMC-SDCARD section.
  • The ACE software allows the user to set up the AD9081 or AD9082 in various modes, and capture analog-to-digital converter (ADC) data for analysis.
  • The DPGDownloaderLite software generates and transmits vectors to the DACs, which can then be sent to a spectrum analyzer for further analysis.
  • For more details, see the AD9081 and AD9082 data sheets, which must be consulted in conjunction with this user guide when using the evaluation boards.
